NOOK!

After a long day in Santa Monica and around L.A,  Alex and I just couldn’t resist going to dinner.  So we relied on her list of amazing restaurants and we both decided on a place called NOOK.  It was THE hardest place to find, but that’s what you get for these hole in the wall places.

The interior was extremely chic and modern.  Something me and Alex were both surprised by. We were seating very quickly at the bar and greeted by a very nice bartender.  We decided to share the Shiitake & Gruyere Bread Pudding and Spicy Gulf Shrimp & Grits.  The bartender mentioned that the shrimp and grits were the most popular and the Herb Roasted Pork Chop was his favorite.  The restaurant also had a really great selection of wines and local brew at a normal price.

The shrimp was large and cooked perfectly.  The grits were very flavorful and the texture was tender.  Overall, the two matched really well and I can see how this is so popular.  I definitely recommend this dish and at just 18$ it’s a reasonable price for such amazing flavor.

We also tried the Shiitake & Gruyere Bread Pudding side. The dish was amazing and was the epitome of gourmet comfort food.

The dish had a perfect balance and it wasn’t heavy at all.  It was really well made and for 7$ it was amazing quality for a the price.
